Lewie Coyle expressed his disappointment after Hull City’s FA Cup second-round exit at the hands of League Two strugglers Stevenage.
The Tigers fell to a shock 6-5 penalty shootout defeat after a 1-1 draw at the Lamex Stadium, despite taking the lead through Tom Eaves’ spot-kick early in the second half.
And Coyle, who was captain for the day, felt his side didn’t compete well enough against a determined Boro.
“We were 1-0 up, in control of the game,” said Coyle. “We were wasteful in the first half in front of goal.
“We turned over possession far too easily in the first half but came out second half and started to enjoy longer spells of possession in their half and enjoyed playing it about.
