The new reality for veteran Texans defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel is he'll have to be craftier than ever in his strategies and schemes.
With Pro Bowl outside linebacker Jadeveon Clowney unloaded in a lopsided trade to the Seattle Seahawks, Crennel can no longer create mismatches built around the former top overall pick's rare disruptive presence.
"Well the trade is a trade, it's happened and he's no longer part of the team, and so we're going to have to make up the best we can," Crennel said. "Somebody else is going to have to step up and see if they can get the job done.
