Houston Texans running back British Brooks is an easy player to root for.
The undrafted free agent out of North Carolina earned a spot on the Tar Heels as a non-scholarship special teams player in 2018, then worked his way to a sizable share of carries in 2021. Brooks missed all of 2022 after tearing a ligament in his knee. He didn't return to the field for 611 days. Earning a spot on the Texans' final 53-man roster was unlikely for Brooks entering training camp. The tasked paled in comparison to his return from injury.
