Where Houston high school stars and Texas college players were drafted

Nine players who starred at Houston high schools were selected in this year's NFL draft. Thirteen others from Texas colleges also heard their name called in the draft.

Among those in-state schools, Texas A&M led the way with seven players drafted. The University of Houston and TCU had three each. Prairie View A&M also had a player get drafted when defensive end Quinton Bell was picked by the Raiders in the seventh round.

Westfield High School's Ed Oliver had the honor as the only former Houston high school star to go in the first three rounds. He is the first player from a Houston-area high school to go in the Top 10 since Elkins' Jake Matthews went sixth and Galveston Ball's Mike Evans was taken seventh in 2014.
