Despite never coaching above the high school level, Josh McCown has now had three interviews with the Texans to become their head coach - once in January 2021 and twice this month. He currently is the only coaching candidate to get a second interview with the Texans this offseason.
Late in his 17-year playing career, McCown made it clear that he had coaching aspirations and many around the league have said he would make a good coach, but most thought he would need a little experience first. He got his foot in the door with the Texans because of his friendship with Texans executive vice president of football operations Jack Easterby.
