Hours after oddsmakers declared the Washington Commanders the favorites to make a trade with the Texans for Deshaun Watson, they traded for another quarterback instead.
According to multiple reports, the Commanders agreed to a deal with the Colts, sending them this year's second- and third-round picks and a 2023 third-round pick in exchange for quarterback Carson Wentz and the Colts' second-round pick. The deal can't become official until March 16, the same day the Broncos will officially announce they've traded for Seattle's Russell Wilson.
Washington was thought to be high on Watson as it is desperate for a quarterback, having started eight different quarterbacks in the past three seasons and going 7-8 last season despite having Taylor Heinicke throw 15 interceptions in 15 starts.
