Denver Broncos defensive coordinator Wade Phillips was carted off the sidelines after being run over by a San Diego Chargers player early in the second quarter Sunday at Sports Authority Field at Mile High.
The 69-year-old Phillips was down on the sidelines for about five minutes as players from both teams took a knee out of respect for the veteran coach.
The collision happened when Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers threw an interception near the Broncos sideline.
Phillips was strapped to a stretcher and loaded onto a cart. As he was being wheeled off the field, Phillips raised an index finger to the players and crowd to try to show that he was OK.
