Though the Houston Texans were two wins short of reaching Super Bowl LIV, this Sunday will feature two former Texans defensive players with Tyrann Mathieu playing for the Kansas City Chiefs, and Earl Mitchell being a member of the San Francisco 49ers.
Both players weren’t re-signed by the Texans during this past offseason, with Mathieu playing only one season with the Texans, but when he was with Houston he made an impact on the defense, especially the secondary.
While a member of the Texans (he played his first five seasons with the Arizona Cardinals) in 2018, Mathieu played in all 16 regular-season games where he totaled 89 tackles (70 solo), with three sacks and one fumble recovery.
