T.J. Yates, Texans run out of answers early in loss to playoff-bound Jaguars

Fill-in quarterback T. J. Yates found himself far in over his head against the NFL’s most dominating defense and the Texans had no answers for Blake Bortles today as the resurgent Jacksonville Jaguars rolled to a 45-7 victory, securing their first playoff berth since 2007 and raising questions about Bill O’Brien’s future in Houston.

The 4-10 Texans, who play their final home game Christmas afternoon against the Steelers, then finish this lost season at Indianapolis on New Year’s Eve, have lost four in a row and seven of their last eight. They’re also 1-7 in games not started by rookie top draft choice Deshaun Watson, lost for season to a torn ACL suffered in practice following a thrilling near-upset of the Seahawks in Seattle in late October.
