The NFL is allowing its teams to wear alternate helmets for select games this season, which would seem to open the door for the Tennessee Titans to do what most old-school Houston sports fans have been dreading: Throw on the Columbia Blue uniforms, complete with the classic oil derrick helmets.
So far, only five teams – Texans, Patriots, Saints, Falcons and Eagles – have unveiled their plans for the alternate helmet, with the Patriots, Falcons and Eagles all opting to go with a throwback option with their team’s old design. The Bengals teased some sort of alternate white helmet in a social media post Thursday.
