The date was Nov. 11, 2001. Quarterback Tom Brady was making the seventh start of his NFL career as his New England Patriots were battling the Buffalo Bills at Foxboro Stadium for an AFC East division game.
With 1:16 remaining in the first quarter, Brady threw a pass intended for Terrell Buckley. Instead of logging a completion to his intended target, the second-year pro was intercepted by a young playmaker on the Bills’ defense.
That playmaker was Antoine Winfield Sr.
Nineteen years later, Brady is a 42-year-old six-time Super Bowl champion who recently signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
