INDIANAPOLIS - NFL teams would be wise to not ignore the production and athleticism of Texas Tech running back DeAndre Washington.
Washington ran the 40-yard dash in a respectable 4.49 seconds Friday at the NFL scouting combine, also bench pressing 225 pounds 24 times and registered a 34 1/2 inch vertical leap.
The Missouri City native and former high school All-American at Marshall excelled for the Red Raiders and was named All-Big 12 as a senior, rushing for 1,492 yards and 14 touchdowns and catching 41 passes for 385 yards and two touchdowns.
Although a bit undersized at 5-8, 204 pounds, Washington proved during the Senior Bowl all-star game that he can take a hit.
