When the Texans drafted Notre Dame wide receiver Will Fuller in the first round, it followed a private campus workout with coach Bill O'Brien going to South Bend to audition one of the fastest players in the draft.
O'Brien already knew all about Fuller, a Philadelphia, Pa., native he unsuccessfully attempted to recruit to Penn State.
In a breakthrough game Sunday, Fuller caught a career-high 14 passes for 217 yards and three touchdowns on 16 targets. It was his biggest game as a pro and followed a torn anterior cruciate ligament last October.
"I've known Will for a long time," O'Brien said.
