Southern Methodist quarterback Matt Davis worked out for the Texans on Saturday at their local prospect workout.
Davis tore his anterior cruciate ligament in September and missed the remainder of the season.
He opted to declare for the draft rather than seek a sixth year of eligibility from the NCAA.
Davis got hurt against North Texas last year.
In 2015, he passed for 2,263 yards and 16 touchdowns with seven interceptions. He rushed for 761 yards and 10 scores.
Davis signed with Texas A&M out of high school, but transferred to Tyler Junior College before enrolling at SMU.
