The Texans worked out veteran cornerback Phillip Gaines, according to a league source not authorized to speak publicly.
Gaines wasn't immediately signed to a contract.
Gaines is a former Kansas City Chiefs third-round draft pick from Rice who graduated from Judson High in Converse.

Gaines has also played for the Buffalo Bills. He was removed from the Cleveland Browns' injured reserve list last week with an injury settlement.
Gaines is 6-foot, 193 pounds and has run the 40-yard dash in 4.
