Although Texans outside linebacker Whitney Mercilus didn't make the Pro Bowl one year removed from recording a career-high dozen sacks, he still manufactured a strong season.
Mercilus leads the Texans with 7½ sacks, recording two Saturday during a victory over the Cincinnati Bengals. He's tied with Miami Dolphins linebacker Kiko Alonso for the NFL lead with four fumble recoveries. Mercilus has 51 tackles, 13 for losses and 21 quarterback hits.
Only Denver Broncos outside linebacker Von Miller and Oakland Raiders defensive end Khalil Mack have more sacks than Mercilus' 19½ over the last 25 regular-season games.
"Whitney is a great guy to coach," Texans coach Bill O'Brien said.
