Texans waiving Zach Cunningham, days after benching him for disciplinary reasons

The Texans punished their 27-year-old star linebacker twice this season, benching him for the first quarter of the Browns game in Week 2. That punishment was due to recurring lateness issues, according to SportsTalk 790's Aaron Wilson.

The Texans also punished star safety Justin Reid two weeks ago, making him inactive in a 21-14 loss to the Jets. They did the same to starting cornerback Desmond King, making him inactive for an October game against the Rams.

The Texans drafted Cunningham out of Vanderbilt in the second round in 2017.
