The Houston Texans officially waived TE Rashaun Allen and DB Malik Smith from injured reserve with settlements.
Allen, 27, originally signed on with the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent out of Southern University back in 2014. Allen has had brief stints with the Vikings, Seahawks, Saints and Steelers before signing on to the Texans practice squad last season.
Houston brought him back on a future/reserve contract only to cut him loose last weekend with an injury designation. Allen cleared waivers and reverted to the team’s injured reserve list.
In 2014, Allen appeared in a single game for the Seahawks, but did not record a statistic.
