The Texans waived-injured veteran defensive end Alex Carrington on Tuesday, terminating his one-year, $760,000 contract.
Carrington's deal included an injury waiver.
The former Buffalo Bills third-round draft pick had a steep learning curve after joining the Texans.
Carrington had previous workouts with the Indianapolis Colts and Cleveland Brown
In six NFL seasons, the Arkansas State product has 39 tackles, four sacks and one forced fumble with six passes defended.
