The Texans unveiled their new playing field at NRG Stadium on Tuesday, making them the 13th team to use the UBU Sports Speed Series S5-M synthetic playing surface.
The Texans are one of three teams, including New Orleans and Minnesota, that will have the UBU surface in their stadium as well as their practice facility.
"That looks great," owner Bob McNair said when he got his first look at the new surface. "It's clean and bright, and the numbers really jump out. The logo jumps out. It really looks fresh. I'm excited about it."
Until early last season, the Texans used natural grass on pallets at NRG Stadium, a field that caused controversy when opponents complained about unevenness between the plates of grass.
