The Texans traded defensive back Lonnie Johnson to the Kansas Chiefs on Monday. The Texans announced the trade without any details, but NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that the Texans will receive a conditional seventh-round pick in 2024.
That’s quite a fall for Johnson, who the Texans’ Bill O’Brien picked in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft.
Johnson never panned out, starting just 19 games in three seasons. After playing his first two seasons without an interception, Johnson snagged three picks last year. He also made 55 tackles.
Johnson seemed to tip the trade hours earlier when he tweeted, “Before y’all get to talking krazy on this app I asked for this myself thank you @HoustonTexans for the opportunity this isn’t a farewell this is more like see ya soonu203cufe0f”
