NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Texans starting quarterback Tom Savage got injured during a successful quarterback sneak on fourth down, leaving the game and going to the locker room to be examined under the NFL concussion protocol.
Savage was replaced by former starter Brock Osweiler, who was benched against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Osweiler has thrown 16 interceptions during his first season in Houston after being signed to a $72 million contract in March.
Savage completed 5 of 8 passes for 25 yards Sunday, losing a fumble that was recovered for a touchdown in the first quarter.
Savage's status for the remainder of the game is undetermined as well as whether he'll be ready for an AFC wild-card playoff game.
