The Texans are signing former Texans quarterback T.J. Yates to a free agent deal in the wake of losing rookie Deshaun Watson to a torn anterior cruciate ligament, according to a league source not authorized to speak publicly.
They're also signing Oakland Raiders quarterback Matt McGloin.
Yates is a former Texans fifth-round draft pick from North Carolina.
He's completed 58.1 percent of his career throws for 1,534 yards for six touchdowns and eight interceptions.
He's also played for the Atlanta Falcons and Miami Dolphins.
The Georgia native set school records at North Carolina for total passing yards and single-season passing yards, finishing his career with 9,377 yards and 58 touchdown passes.
