Texans to add former Chiefs guard Jeff Allen

The Texans are signing former Kansas City Chiefs offensive guard Jeff Allen to a four-year, $28 million contract, according to an NFL source not authorized to speak publicly.

The deal includes $14 million in first-year compensation.

Allen replaces newly-minted Philadelphia Eagles offensive guard Brandon Brooks.

Brooks left the Texans as a free agent on a five-year, $40 million contract that averages $8 million annually.

The Texans lost center Ben Jones to the Tennessee Titans on a four-year, $17.5 million deal.
