First came the 94-yard touchdown pass from Jared Goff to Robert Woods, suggesting a gritty Texans defense was wobbling on the brink after another inept performance from Tom Savage, a man way in over his head as an NFL quarterback.
Then came two more third-quarter Goff touchdown passes, only 19 seconds apart and sandwiched around Savage's third turnover of what became an interminably long afternoon for the visitors, making their first-ever visit to Los Angeles. The Texans went down hard 33-7 and fell to 3-6, two games behind both the Tennessee Titans and the Jacksonville Jaguars.
In other words, they're now playing out the string with seven weeks left in a season gone straight south following Deshaun Watson's ACL tear that sent the rookie quarterback to injured reserve following a brilliant six-week run.
