The Texans are signing former New York Jets safety Antonio Allen, according to a league source not authorized to speak publicly.

Allen is a former Jets seventh-round draft pick from South Carolina who spent last season on injured reserve with a torn Achilles tendon.

Allen, 27 has good size and range at 6-2, 210 pounds.

During the 2014 season, Allen recorded 41 tackles and a forced fumble in eight starts as he played in all but one game.

Allen had 60 tackles, one interception returned for a touchdown and a sack in 2013.

For his career, Allen has 110 tackles and 13 passes defended.
