Veteran tight end Darren Fells' career renaissance at age 33 led to a financial reward.
Fells has agreed to a two-year, $7 million contract that includes $4 million in the first year, according to league sources not authorized to speak publicly.
A 6-7, 270-pound former European professional basketball player who didn't play college football, Fells outplayed his one-year, $1.5 million contract and caught a career-high seven touchdown passes. That ranked him third in the NFL among tight ends.
He finished with a career-high 34 receptions for 341 yards. He also caught another touchdown in the playoffs for the AFC South champions and provided strong blocking.
