The Texans signed former Cleveland Browns and Northwestern safety Ibraheim Campbell, according to a league source not authorized to speak publicly.
Campbell had an opening after they cut wide receiver Devin Lucien.
The 5-11, 203-pound former fourth-round draft pick has 80 career tackles and one pass defended.
The Texans also auditioned safety Trey Caldwell, cornerback Dexter McDougle and offensive tackle Taylor Hart.
