The Texans signed veteran defensive end Alex Carrington, a move that should bolster their depth along the defensive line.
The Texans waived-injured undrafted rookie fullback Soma Vainuku.
In six NFL seasons, Arrington has 39 tackles, four sacks and one forced fumble with six passes defended.
The 6-5, 300-pounder played collegiately at Arkansas State and is a 2010 Buffalo Bills third-round draft pick.
He's also played for the St. Louis Rams.
Carrington was placed on injured reserve last November for the Bills, playing in eight games with one start and recording five tackles and no sacks.
