When Texas A&M led UCLA by 34 points Sunday night, punter Shane Lechler decided to text some good-natured trash talk to kicker Ka'imi Fairfairn, who played for the Bruins.
Because UCLA rallied to win 45-44, Fairbairn got the last laugh. Lechler wasn't laughing Monday.
"Yeah, I kind of instigated it," Lechler said. "I started in the first quarter. I had to stop midway through the fourth quarter. That was a hard one to swallow."
Fairbairn insisted he always knew the Bruins would rally and win the game.
"I watched the whole thing, never had a doubt," he said.
