When the Texans decided to release seven-time Pro Bowl punter Shane Lechler, they were putting a lot of faith into a rookie who had never punted before in a critical situation.
Nine games into the season, the decision to go with rookie punter Trevor Daniel has worked out so far.
Daniel is averaging 44.5 yards per punt with a 39.8 net average and 22 downed inside opponents' 20-yard lines.
"Trevor is doing really well I think," Texans special teams coordinator Brad Seely said. "Again, he's a rookie. Just like every other rookie we have on our team, he has his ups and his downs but overall I think he's learning.
