It's apparently a good time to be an owner of a Houston franchise in one of the big three pro sports leagues.
Forbes released its 2016 list of the world's 50 most valuable sports franchises, with the Texans and Rockets both landing on the list.
The Texans were tied 14th with MLB's Los Angeles Dodgers, with an estimated value of $2.5 billion. That's a 35 percent increase over last year's $1.85 billion valuation that placed Houston in 16th. In 1999, Texans owner Bob McNair's bid for the expansion franchise was $700 million.
Meanwhile, the Rockets were tied for 47th, down five spots from last year, but were valued at $1.
