The Houston Texans have re-signed veteran punter Shane Lechler to a one-year deal, the Houston Chronicle reported Thursday.
Lechler averaged 48.9 yards per punt for the Texans in 2017, which ranked second in the league.
The 41-year-old had said he wanted to come back to Houston because he thinks there's a chance to win a ring with the Texans next season.
Texans coach Bill O'Brien has praised Lechler for the way he has changed his punting style in the latter stages of his career. Lechler has been able to direct punts more than he was early in his career.
