Texans reach injury settlement with Richard Leonard

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The Texans have brokered an injury settlement with rookie cornerback Richard Leonard, removing the undrafted player from their injured reserve list.

Leonard underwent surgery in the spring to repair a torn hamstring.

Leonard was signed in the spring to a three-year, $1.505 million contract that included a $2,000 signing bonus.

He was waived-injured in July when the team signed defensive tackle Ra'Zahn Howard.

Leonard reverted to injured reserve when he went unclaimed off waivers.

A former Florida International standout, Leonard played in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl all-star game.

Leonard was a first-team All-Conference USA selection at cornerback and punt returner.
