Lined up in the shotgun formation during the fourth quarter Sunday, Texans quarterback Brock Osweiler scanned the field in the red zone against the San Diego Chargers.
He located tight end C.J. Fiedorowicz, but his pass was two yards shy of the first-down marker. So, the Texans wound up settling for a 19-yard Nick Novak field goal and closed the gap to 14-10 during an eventual 21-13 defeat.
It was a familiar story for the Texans. They rank 30th in red-zone offense.
"We've got to be better in the red zone," Texans coach Bill O'Brien said one day after going 1 for 2 in the red zone against San Diego.
