Texans promote improved OT Roderick Johnson

One of the reasons why the Texans decided to promote offensive tackle Roderick Johnson from the practice squad to the active roster was his steady improvement.

The former Cleveland Browns fifth-round draft pick has made strides as a blocker since he joined the Texans in June off waivers.

“I thought he got better and better in the preseason," Texans coach Bill O'Brien said. "Athletic guy, great length, size-wise, and really good teammate. So, I think that was the best move for us to make.”
Johnson got the call Tuesday when the Texans were in the process of placing veteran tackle Seantrel Henderson on injured reserve with a broken ankle.
