Texans pleased with rookie Stephen Anderson

The progress of Texans rookie tight end Stephen Anderson is no longer impeded by a troublesome hamstring injury that sidelined him earlier this season.

The undrafted free agent from Cal has caught seven passes for 57 yards as the Texans' third tight end.

A hybrid H-back type who caught 87 passes for 1,135 yards and seven touchdowns over his final two college seasons and being named All-Pac-12 Conference honorable-mention as the former walk-on earned a scholarship, Anderson presents a difficult matchup for linebackers and safeties. He runs the 40-yard dash in 4.58 seconds.

"He's a tremendous athlete who has certainly given us a lift in the pass game," Texans tight ends coach John Perry said of Anderson.
