The Texans placed injured veteran offensive tackle Derek Newton on the reserve physically unable to perform list.
He doesn't count against the Texans' offseason roster limit of 90 players as the Texans were awarded cornerback Marcus Roberson off waivers from the Buffalo Bills.
Newton suffered a gruesome injury last season against the Denver Broncos when he tore the patellar tendons in both legs. Newton awkwardly bent backward and fell to the ground while trying to block Pro Bowl outside linebacker Von Miller. Newton somehow avoided tearing his anterior cruciate ligament, but underwent a pair of lengthy surgeries.
