Texans one step closer to AFC South crown after shutting down Dolphins

The Houston Texans entered NRG Stadium on Sunday eyeing their first home victory since before Halloween. Now, head coach DeMeco Ryans' squad appears primed to host a playoff game in Houston after the calendar turns to 2025.

Houston inched one step closer to postseason play with Sunday's 20-12 win over Tua Tagovailoa and the Miami Dolphins. The victory brought the Texans to 9–5 in 2024, and more importantly, Houston now has quite the slim magic number to clinch the AFC South title: one. One Houston win or Indianapolis Colts loss will give the Texans the division crown, which could arrive as soon as Sunday evening if the Denver Broncos beat the Colts.
