Texans' offensive tackle Derek Newton carted off

Texans veteran right offensive tackle Derek Newton was carted off the practice field during the opening dray of training camp.

Newton didn't appear to be in any major discomfort.

Texans coach Bill O'Brien didn't specify what the nature of Newton's injury or ailment is, but appeared to downplay the severity of whatever he's dealing with in a tongue-in-cheek manner.

"Not yet, I go in there and get the injury report," O'Brien said. "I don't think it was anything life-threatening or anything like that. I think he'll be all right. We'll go from there."

Reserve tackles Kendall Lamm and Chris Clark, who's starting at left tackle with Duane Brown sidelined after quadriceps tendon surgery and on the physically unable to perform list, are among the options at right tackle.
