CARSON, Calif. - In case anyone forgot, massive Texans nose tackle D.J. Reader provided a reminder of his pass-rushing skills.
The former Clemson standout recorded 1 1/2 sacks, one tackle for a loss, three quarterback hits and three tackles.
Reader sacked Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers once for a loss of nine yards in the second quarter. He split a sack with defensive end J.J. Watt in the third quarter.
This marked Reader's first sacks since the first week of last season against the New England Patriots. Reader now has 5 1/2 career sacks.
Reader is in a contract year, but no deal is imminent, according to league sources not authorized to speak publicly.
