Texans limited partner Philip Burguieres, a former vice chairman of the franchise who played a key role in helping owner Bob McNair bring the NFL back to Houston, died Thursday night.
Burguieres, a Louisiana native, served as McNair's right-hand man with the Texans and other business ventures for decades.
"It is with great sadness that I report Philip passed away last night," McNair said in a statement. "Philip worked tirelessly with me to bring an NFL franchise back to Houston.
"He was instrumental to the success of the Texans, serving as vice chairman until 2012. Philip also was involved in the McNair Group investment activities.
