Given the fact that the 30 year-old Bergstrom is scheduled to bring in $2.6 million for the 2017 season, the best thing for the Texans to do would be to release him in order to save the money and put it elsewhere.
A nice chunk of Bergstrom’s $2.6 million salary will come on March 9th when he’s scheduled to collect a $250,000 roster bonus.
It would be nice for the Texans to have a veteran like Bergstrom behind Greg Mancz, Nick Martin, Oday Aboushi and Xavier Su’a-Filo, but they have to decide whether paying him almost $3 million next season is worth it.
