Texans backup inside linebacker Max Bullough has been suspended without pay for the first four games of the season, the NFL announced Thursday.
Bullough, 25, violated the NFL performance-enhancing drug policy.
A 6-3, 245-pound reserve linebacker who started three games last season when veteran Brian Cushing was sidelined, Bullough is a former undrafted free agent from Michigan State.
Bullough is eligible to participate in all offseason activities and practices along with training camp. His suspension ends Oct. 2, the day after a game against the Tennessee Titans.
A former All-Big Ten Conference selection and team captain, Bullough had 25 tackles last season as he appeared in every game.
