The Houston Texans have decided to re-sign offensive tackle Roderick Johnson to a one year deal according to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle. The deal is expected to pay Johnson up to $1.75 million for this upcoming season. Johnson was originally an exclusive rights free agent before the Texans decided not to tender him to a contract and let him hit the open market.
However, the Texans made a move in the right direction in retaining Johnson as a player to continue to develop moving forward at a bargain price. Houston was reportedly in the market for a swing tackle, but they weren’t going to find an option willing to sign with Houston at the price they signed Johnson.
