Texans LB calls out 'Islamophobic fans' in apology to Trevor Lawrence

Houston Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair was ejected Sunday after an ugly, concussion-inducing hit on Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence. Criticism quickly arrived both on the airwaves and on social media.

Fox NFL analyst Daryl Johnston ripped Al-Shaair for a "reckless" and "disrespectful" hit, adding "Azeez Al-Shaair does everything you’re trying to prevent in this situation." Johnston's criticism, while harsh, is warranted given the dangerous nature of his launch into the helmet of Jacksonville's quarterback. More pernicious comments came online, however. Many criticized Al-Shaair for his "Free Palestine' cleats" and support for the Palestinian Children's Relief Fund.
