LANDOVER, Md. -- For Texans kicker Ka'imi Fairbairn, a sinking feeling turned into relief minutes after he flubbed a late field goal try.
The Texans survived with a 23-21 win over Washington as Fairbairn hit the game-winning 54-yard field goal midway through the fourth quarter at FedEx Field.
Minutes after that game-deciding kick, though, Fairbairn misfired on a 45-yard field goal that could have given the Texans a bigger lead. Earlier in the game, Fairbairn missed a 44-yard field goal wide left.
It was a roller-coaster ride of emotions for Fairbairn as he watched the defense hold Washington to a 63-yard field goal missed by Dustin Hopkins in the final seconds.
