The Texans are optimistic about the status of three key starters in advance of their season opener against the New Orleans Saints.
Former Pro Bowl left tackle Matt Kalil (foot, knee), rookie offensive guard Tytus Howard (broken finger) and wide receiver Keke Coutee (sprained ankle) participated in a light practice Monday.
Kalil had been out since getting his foot stepped on during a joint practice with the Detroit Lions.
Howard broke his finger in a preseason game against Detroit and will not play in the Texans' preseason finale Thursday against the Los Angeles Rams.
Coutee sprained his ankle in a preseason game against the Green Bay Packers.
