Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson and cornerback Johnathan Joseph were honored Thursday by the local chapter of the Pro Football Writers of America.
Watson was voted the team Most Valuable Player in annual balloting by local reporters. Joseph was named the Media Good Guy award winner.
In his third NFL season, Watson has passed for 3,852 yards, 26 touchdowns and 12 interceptions for a 98.0 passer rating. Watson, selected to this season's Pro Bowl, has also rushed for 413 yards and seven touchdowns.
Watson is one passing TD shy of setting a new single-season career-high and one rushing TD shy of becoming the second player in NFL history after Cam Newton to have more than 25 passing touchdowns and eight rushing scores in a single season.
