The possibility of having Texans star defensive end J.J. Watt back for the playoffs is emerging as a more viable scenario.
Watt has made a speedy recovery from a torn pectoral suffered against the Oakland Raiders in October, so much so that he could be designated for return from injured reserve.
The Texans previously designated tight end Jordan Thomas for return from injured reserve, leaving them with one more spot left under NFL rules.
While Watt has previously declared himself out for the year, writing on social media that he was "absolutely gutted that I won't be able to finish the season with my guys," he's much more optimistic now about his outlook based on how his rehabilitation is progressing.
